Models for Global Peace - Easter Week in Tamera

Models for Global Peace - Easter Week in Tamera

April 8th - 15th 2009

The world is in transition. The political, ecological and economic crises are getting worse. Existing peace projects need to intensify and expand their network, and develop and manifest alternatives. Following the initiative of Sabine Lichtenfels, Dieter Duhm and Benjamin von Mendelssohn, a group of particularly committed and active peace visionaries from different cultures and nations will meet in Tamera from April 9 to April 13, 2009. Their intention is to start planning, preparing, and establishing global peace villages together.

Parallel to this event we are inviting interested people to the Easter week from April 8 to April 15. The participants of the peace meeting will introduce their work in a variety of presentations to the visitors of our Easter week. In addition, we will give you an insight into the most recent developments in Tamera. Toward the end of the week (April 12) a Permaculture Seminar by Sepp Holzer will start. http://www.tamera.org/index.php?id=480

Monte Cerro Peace Education

„"Monte Cerro Peace Education" includes comprehensive studies in peace work and the creation of peace villages. At its core lies the knowledge about community and the development of trust, truth and transparency including the areas of love and sexuality. An essential part of the education is the study of the political theory of a global change through local actions.„

Based on the experience developed during the first three years of the Monte Cerro Peace Education program with more than 80 international students we now start a flexible study program. The first part is a three-months basic semester, starting on May 4th with a four-weeks UN-recognized Ecovillage-design Education (EDE) course. For further information on this course, see the link below.

Monte Cerro Peace Education :

May 4th - August 15th 2009

Those who are interested only in this comprehensive overview of the themes regarding the development of a Peace Village can take this course independently of the remaining program. The first part of the Basis semester continues for two weeks including an evaluation time. The second time of this intensive basic semester will then continue for another eleven weeks and include the Summer University. In the Basic semester the students will get to know Tamera and its work in an overview: The projects of Tamera such as the Solarvillage, the ecology group and the provision of basic needs of a community as well as the core issues of research in Tamera: community and trust between people with questions like: Which inner steps in these areas create inner peace and thus have an effect on the whole? From now on we offer our studies in Tamera in modular form and in short-stay courses. This means that long-term-residence in Tamera will no longer be necessary, which also makes it possible for people from other projects and from crisis areas to take part in our education. The further curriculum you (will) find here under events. We are pleased that international peace workers can use this curriculum to train themselves for their engagement in the world and we wish for the field-like spreading of this knowledge and its practical application in the lives of many people -- in the name of love.

The global economic crisis, the consequences of which cannot be completely forseen, shows once more that the contemporary capitalist era is going to end and must end for humankind to have a chance to survive. But what will come after it?Will civil wars and chaos be unavoidable after the breakdown of the big systems or are there alternatives? Will we also be able to live safely and well without globalized capitalism, or even better? How can we develop and design a sustainable economy? What will new social and economic structures look like, that are not based on the exploitation of human beings, animals and nature? For years, communities, Ecovillages and Peace Villages all over the world have been doing research and working on the development of alternatives. Now they offer their social, ecological and spiritual experience and teach a knowledge of survival. We cordially invite you to the fourth EDE course that is going to take place in Tamera! The goal of this international course (the course language is English) is to learn the basic knowledge for the development of Ecovillages/Peace Villages. It is a course for people who intend to actively participate in the necessary change that is happening on planet earth. The course will give an overview of the four elementary areas which form the pre-conditions for the development of sustainable models: 1. Worldview: Seeing the world as a whole, understanding why we have an influence on the whole. What does a socially committed spirituality which gives us the power we need to make our contribution look like ?2. Social Issues: For decades, Tamera has been gathering particularly profound experience and knowledge in this area. What are meaningful structures for a new co-habitation? How can we develop a kind of understanding/communication which creates truth and trust – also in the core areas of community, in love and sexuality? The world needs models in which people really live together without continually reproducing war on a small scale so that a new culture of peace on earth can develop. 3. Economy: How do we deal with the issue of money in a healing way? How can we direct money into the development of sustainable systems instead of war and consumption? We will study the themes of Spiritual Economy, Barter Systems and Alternative Currencies. 1. Ecology: The material building blocks for the construction of new models: We will study in practice – based on existing examples for all areas, as well as in theory and get to know the areas of Ecology (Permaculture, particularly according to Sepp Holzer), new Technologies (Solar Technology – particularly according to Jürgen Kleinwächter) and sustainable building (particularly loam construction.)
